What should the city do with the $6.7 million surplus?
Refunds? Road work? Rainy day fund? General Fund? Beautification?

Refunds for what?
Why can't we just save it up for Maps II?

Those are my thoughts. More or less.
It could be used to hire engineers and planners for MAPS projects.

That's a very good seperate topic.

Isn't going to be spent on more stupid splash parks?
Spartan65- 09-13-2006
That's a shame. Isn't some also going to street work?

Some spraygrounds and about 51 miles of lane resurfacing, according to the latest report.

Lane resurfacing is fine with me, but the spraygrounds don't seem to be such a priority for me. I don't think we're really improving our town too much by having something like this. Howabout a downtown spray park? How will the business folk react to seeing kiddos swimming attire horse playing around downtown?
Sounds neat to me, a younger, more playful element would never hurt, but I just don't see how with all of these suburban spraygrounds, we're actually improving our city.
But I haven't looked at these in depth, so I may not know. Am I unfairly pre-judging these?

It would be cool to see children playing in a fountain downtown... Don't they have on somewhere downtown already? I wouldn't mind another one, say in Couch Park.

There's the fountains in the pedestrian walkway at the end of the canal, it's on Sheridan by the current Bricktown substation.

Definitely need the roadwork done. OKC roads suck butt.
