Why are you apologizing, it's a great development that can transform the western sides of downtown. It's on Sheridan west of the Legacy development, and is a bunch of old warehouses being turned into lofts and retail, and some offices.

shane- 09-11-2006
What happened here?

Spartan65- 09-11-2006
I don't really know.

Architect2010- 09-11-2006
alright thanks for that info and i apologized because i didn't mean to add another post but thanx again.

Spartan65- 09-11-2006
Add another post? So there was an original post?

Architect2010- 09-11-2006
yeah there was another post from the skyline snapshot, its a webpage that shows tons of new developpment going on around oklahoma city.I lost the post somehow and can't find it.

Architect2010- 09-11-2006
also do u know of any good information on this Film Exchange? And do u know of any good websites that show development in and around downtown, and bricktown. Im a 14 yr. old aspiring architect. Love downtown.

Spartan65- 09-11-2006
OK well anyway, maybe I can still rescue this thread...

There will be 12,000 sf of retail in the Film Exchange Building, and the rest will be six 1,000 sf lofts on the top floor.

edit: I just now saw your last post. The best source for downtown development news is probably RIGHT here, and we're glad to have you. There are no websites for the Film Exchange, but I think the developer is the same guy that owns the LiT bar in Bricktown.

The Old Downtown Guy- 09-11-2006
Film Exchange got some grit. About 18 to 24 months from now that strip is going to be a knock out. A good variety of tenants already coming on board, design studio, architect's office, all the stuff that is already there, some people living there soon, a few trees on the street, oh yeah, I like it a lot. Lots of drunks stumblin' by, no problem. Pretty soon you won't notice them so much because of the cool rehabbing happing. Dude with a shopping cart full of scrap metal, entry level recycling . . . grit.

I hear you. But I've often wondered if the city would do a streetscape along West Sheridan, but it pretty much seems like the deveoper (whether Chip Fudge really has much of anything to do with this development as much as I've been working with it is really up for anyone to decide, which I think is the way he likes) is doing a real nice job cleaning up the streets himself. Then we had a deal between the city and Henderson and Dowell for the Walker streetscape... any chances of a western extension of that?

The Old Downtown Guy- 09-11-2006
Actually the work now being done on Walker adjacent to Henderson's project has been in the works for a few years. It was part of the 2000 bond issue and is Phase II of the project that included the Walker/10th roundabout. Walker will get finished up to 13th, 10th and Classen Drive finished to Shartel, 11th street from Walker to Classen Drive and then another roundabout at 10th and Shartel.

The city has about 6.7 million in surplus money they want to spend on capital improvements. There was a story in today's Daily O. I would call Ann Simank for a meeting asap. I would get Chip involved, and David Wanzer too. 405.641.6911 There's plenty of room in that street for a median and it would add a lot to the area. Don't delay.

Welcome to the forum, Architect. I became interested in downtown a lot like you, and I found an awesome place for me to discuss all of the exciting projects going on in the inner city at this forum.

The Film Exchange is a pretty cool idea. Especially if it turns out like the rendering. A neat bit of character and history- hopefully it won't be too spoofish though, treading on thin ice with the walk of fame stars. A good place to have the names of Oklahoma stars, and could certainly become a source of pride for the state if it becomes a big enough deal and the celebrities even wanted to be present for the unveiling of the stars.

So many famous folks come from this state, it would be very cool for our state to have a walk of fame in downtown. That would be a heck of an attraction.
