LAWTON, Okla. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation said a portion of Interstate 44 on the northeast side of Lawton has been reopened after being closed for almost three hours this morning because of flooding.

O-DOT spokesman David Muser says the highway was closed in both directions from the Cache Road exit to the Key Gate exit.

He says that standing water remains in the roadway.

Muser says that a portion of Broadway Extension in Oklahoma City also was briefly closed as storms passed through, as well as parts of State Highway 37 and State Highway 4 in Grady County.

All the roads have since been reopened.

You know that area has been really starved for rain. As long as the floods didn't do too much damage, isn't this really good news?

as some of you know I am a Fire Chief for the Cove Acres VFD. We had 5 families displaced today from flooding and 1 family displaced from an oil rig's sludge pit overflowing and oil spilling all over.

That is very unfortunate. At least crops down there will get the rain they've needed desperately.
