I think the cities already choose this group and that the other proposals were thrown out... Let’s wait tell the end of September... They want the hotel done by 2008 so it is a matter of time until the city well tell the people...

When I read the press releases I seemed to get the idea that they were quite specific in saying only one proposal was received by TDA?

I think thats what they accepted; only that offer...

Would it really be a Westin since they got bought by Sheraton? They changed the name of the one in OKC pretty quickly. If you check their site, all 3 hotels for the Sheraton brand (including Westin) are in OKC. I guess they are trying to break into a new market in Tulsa?

We were hoping they would do some much needed work in the convention area of the downtown hotel in OKC, but they didn't. I don't think that part has been touched since the 70's...besides paint and carpet. I just wish they would be more inventive with their designs though. The plain old rectangular hotel is so boring. That's why I like the OKC Reanniasance so much better because of the atrium down the middle. It makes the hotel feel so much larger and open.

There is a Sheraton at I 44 and the BA Expressway, and there is a Sheraton planned in Owasso in a mixed-use development.

The official word is that it will be a Sheraton, and the developers have officially dubbed the project The Westin at Garden Square.

The hotel at the Williams Center (now the Crowne Plaza) used to be a Westin.

And Westin is a more upscale brand than Sheraton.

There is a proposed Sheraton in Owasso but there are no other Starwood hotels in Tulsa anymore. Oklahoma City has a couple of Sheratons, but no Westin.

I-44 and the BA is now a Raddison.

Oh that's right, thanks for reminding me of that. smile.gif

Embassy Suites

41st and Highway 169

Radisson Hotel

I would much rather take Westin than a Sheraton... More Upscale and plus I don’t think there is a Westin in Oklahoma..?

I remember that-- The Westin in Downtown with the indoor tennis court...

Nope, no more Westins in OK. I believe the one in downtown OKC was the last one to change in OK. I think the company was beginning to really feel the pressure from the other hotel developments in the state that "one-upped" Westin...like The Reannaisance hotels. They went from being pretty much the only player in town for urban hotels in OKC, to being just another name...especially now with all the historic hotels opening up again and the ones in Bricktown being developed.

What did the Adams-Mark there in Tulsa change to? Isn't there another hotel there downtown besides the old AM?

T-TownMike- 09-15-2006
I'm not sure if many saw this, but the picture provided of the proposed Hotel shows some cool looking glass on the outside that seems to MATCH the facade of the arena. I think that would be a cool tie in. I hope we will hear something soon about this project.

There's the Doubletree.

There are only 5 Adam's Mark hotels left in the entire nation.

swake- 09-15-2006
The William's Center Westin became the Adam's Mark, and now is the Crowne Plaze.

The Double Tree Downtown has been that for years, many years ago it was the Excelsior Hotel.

There are also the Great Western Hotel, The Ambassador Hotel and the very small Hotel Savoy.

RAGE- 09-15-2006
The Great Western Hotel used to be Ramada Inn but changed... They are owned by Great western Hotel chain from California... The group has been discussing selling the hotel but has decided to hold out until 2009 and see how everything is... They are investing $1 million for renovations and 2 new elevators...

That’s were all the teams that play TU stay at...

Double Tree-- Weren’t they going to change there name?
