Living In Downtown Tulsa KOTV - 9/15/2006 6:18 AM - Updated: 9/15/2006 7:41 AM An architect with expertise in designing for downtown says Tulsa's downtown needs more people and less parking.
Hart is an urban designer from Vancouver, Canada. He's in town at the invitation of Tulsa Now - a group pushing for change in Tulsa's city planning. He says Tulsa's downtown has lots of promise, but it's too disconnected with so much parking and so little connecting it to what's just outside.
Alan Hart: "So right now it's really isolated and it was isolated by the automobile about 40 years ago."
Hart said while big projects can help create a tax base - little projects help too, and even things like sidewalks influence how people feel about where they live.
Also check out the e-clips. Currently it's the 3rd e-clip. Thoughts?

They had to invite a guy from Vancouver to tell them that? I could have told them that.
But really, he's very right... And Vancouver would certainly be a great place to get advice from.

He is here to help improve downtown. I think he is right on the money on this. Downtown needs to be pedestrian friendly at every corner, IMO. Downtown is getting better, but it still needs a jumpstart. Listening to this guy is a good start, IMO.

They do have to tell folks that, and kudos to TN for getting him over here. Perhaps the Tulsa World should pick up the story...

Its is but it isn't... Downtown Tulsa doesn’t feel like you could just live there like that... Everything is hidden, that what it feels like to me...
