With the reorganized forum, I wasn't sure where to post this, but I'll try it here.

I've now done a couple of Okc Mayors in my blog, http://dougdawg.blogspot.com/ .

Most recently, the mayor is Ed Overholser (but I combined it with his dad, Henry, who was never mayor. I'm sure that everyone is familiar with the Overholser Mansion, which was Henry's house:

It is owned by the Oklahoma Historical Society and is open to the public.

But you may not know that Edward's house (in Mesta Park at 1001 NW 17) is not far away. It remains a private residence.

Here's another view that's not in the blog:

Those are some pretty nice shacks... so are there many other mayors who lived in fabulous abodes? If this is a thread about pictures of the homes of former mayors then you probably put it in the right place. wink.gif

The pics I posted are part of my blog's history stuff. Before you got hacked, they'd have been put in the renamed "Bloggers" area ... and I wasn't what sure what to do in the new forum structure. The pics are actually just a small part of the particular blog post involved ... far more interesting (to me, at least) parts are the text parts ... involving the early day (1904-05) Oklahoman's interface with the Overholsers ... such as (a picture is worth a thousand words, right?) ...

... but there is no area in the reworked forum that seems to match.

You just tell me what you want and I'll try to follow your guidance.

Also, do you want a bunch of previously posted images to be "reposted" ... not limited to Okc, but also the Enid, etc. stuff that I'd once done. All of that stuff is still on my server, and as I've said at Hornets Central, I'd like to help as I can.

Yes, anything you can do to stir and attract activity is key and much appreciated Doug. I think this time around anything that doesn't fit could go in the general section.

I love those old homes! Driving around Heritage Hills, Mesta Park, Putnam Heights, etc. It's a jump back to the oil days and I love it. I've been glad to see that so many people have put so much effort into maintaining the look of the historic homes as well. Even ex-mayor Norick? or maybe the next one, bought one of those homes and tried to build a new "garage" that didn't match the house. Boy that got booted down by the historical preservation group, and I applaud them. Shows that the citizens are keeping people in check!

Lincoln's Terrace which is between the Capitol Complex and the OU Health Center is my favorite. They are building some new townhomes on Lindsay, about at Nineteenth, but for the most part the neighborhood is very-well preserved. But a little growth could never harm.
