Well, we noticed several months ago the excavation going on beneath two upper Bricktown buildings to give them a canal level floor. We finally know what exactly is going on in these two buildings, one two-soon-to-be-three story building that houses Zios and the Laughing Fish, and the other a vacant three-soon-to-be-four story building in a rather prominent place in Bricktown.

The larger building, a Bricktown landmark because of the water tower on its roof, would be developed with housing on the top floor, office space will go into the second floors of both buildings, and retail and restaurant space will go into the canal levels and first floor levels of the buildings. The smaller building plan will include a rooftoop garden.

The buildings were purchased from Jim Brewer by developers John Shelton and Charles Harding. The Bricktown Urban Design Committee loves the plans so far, and they are indeed very beautiful. If approved, the plan would also include a two to four story parking garage over a surface lot owned by Jim Brewer- a project that would possibily enable Brewer to finally build a canal-side hotel that he "can't find a parking solution for." (Except for the too-obvious build the hotel on top of a parking garage solution).

Actually it's a differant building. Let me show you:

Photos from this thread.

This is what you all noticed, a building on the canal's north side, at Oklahoma.

It was hard to get a good shot because I wasn't across the canal.

Oh. Well then I guess we have even more canal-level treats in store.

Definately.

Whoa. That rendering looks fantastic. Where did you dig that one up?

I think what you saw Shane in one of my Bricktown photos was a new restaurant, called The Melting Pot (with a location in Jenks) is going in the old Oklahoma Hardware Co. building. They sell fondue and food.

Sounds like action at two locations on the canal. Still too many vacant spaces down there to get a critical mass of businesses to draw a year round. These two developments will help for sure. Good news for everyone.

Any developments that show up down there will just end up helping themselves. The more the merrier for everyone. The more of an attraction the canal begins, as if it's not already the express attraction, the more of a success businesses down there will be.

Wow lovely. How many units, like 4 or 5? I think it would be really neat to see them add maybe 5 floors to the building, but it would just be another pipe dream.

Probably not many units. But probably very pricey ones.
