Edited Post: I screwed up when posting these earlier late at night before I left town for the weekend ... hopefully these images wll appear correctly ...

Since the State Fair is presently having it's centennial, it seemed appropos to make a blog article about the fair's history. The blog post is now done but I'm skipping the boring text and just showing the pics in this thread. I apologize for not getting it done right the 1st time!

From the postcards, it looks like coats & ties were the uniform of the day! Gawd! What? No Hawaiian shirts, no bermuda shorts, no sandals? And, to be sure, where's them short shorts & skirts! okmetropolis/yikes.gif

IMAGES OF THE STATE FAIR OF OKLAHOMA

These are the best that I've found of early day postcards and photos.

Bill was a black cowboy from south Texas who is said to have originated the idea of bulldogging in a 'bite-'em-lip" fashion. Bill was skilled with his rope, as he demonstrated here."

Edited by Doug Monday 9/18/06: SO VERY SORRY that I misunderstood. In my haste to get the stuff posted Friday evening-Saturday morning before I left town for the weekend, I screwed up and did a bad posting job, for which I'm very sorry. The above post has now been edited and, hopefully, this time I've done it right.

Don't guess I understand your post after I posted my newer images of the "old" Okc fair.

Help me!?

Sorry if I've posted pics inaappropriately here, which I guess you think that I did by my prior post. Not a biggie to me, if that's the case. My singular intention in posting here is to help this web forum get back to speed after being zapped.

Regardless, my blog post for the early-day Fair is done.

That said, if posting restrictions/definitions are existing here, I'm unaware. Sorry to hve apparently violated them by an ealier post.

No, he means your photos aren't showing up. It says Photobucket moved them.

Rules, what rules? smile.gif
