I got it. OK 152 out by Mustang. Mustang Mills, baby.

That side of town would be a great place for that type of mall. I think it would work better closer to the interstate though. Most of the Mills malls (or any mall really) are as near to the interstate as they can be....catch the drivers eye. Look in town and see that those not near the interstate aren't high traffic malls (Shepard, Heritage, North Park), while Crossroads, Penn, Quail, and Sooner are right on an interstate. I would love to see a Mills in OKC.

Anyone see the Lifestyle Center spot on the news last night for Bricktown. Awesomeness!

152 crosses I-40 near Mustang, I would imagine he is thinking of that intersection. Maybe on the south side of I-40 opposite of Xerox.

No, 152 runs east/west, so I can't cross I-40. Maybe youre thinking of 92 (Cemetery Rd) or 4 (Mustang Rd). Any of that land across from Xerox would be good....right near Mustang Rd....because of the amount of development that has sprung up there in recent years, right there at Reno. My memory doesnt serve me well for the private developments on the east side of Mustand Rd. from I-40 down to 29th. If I remember closely though, there are some businesses there right on the road, but not behind the main frontage of the road.....like a big empty field.

Yes, the photo upload is finally working!!! smile.gif (Sparta is happy)

OK, I meant right on 152. Bluedog, you're thinking of OK 4.

Think about Grapevine Mills. It's in a suburb that was previously nothing but fields and two-lane county roads, save for it's excellant location by the airport that landed it the Mills mall. Mustang currently consists of more than Grapevine did pre-Mills, I think. It's the metro's fastest growing city over 10,000 (Piedmont, which Greg Banta is mayor of, is the fastest growing but doesn't have 10K).

It would be located on a brand-new stretch of controlled-access highway (FM 121 in Grapevine was worked on after Mills was announced I think).

That's an attrosciously bad map. There are a lot more streets out there now than that. Most notably, the area due west and northwest of Will Rogers has exploded with new home construction recently.

I think it's a good idea, because the area is easily accessable from other parts of the metro, and you can't go wrong naming a development Mustang!

Spartan65- 09-06-2006
Yeah I figured it was probably pretty lacking as far as where all the new developments are.

Yeah, 4 is the one that I was thinking of. Close to that area is the former Dayton Tire plant which might be a good spot for redevelopment if Hobby Lobby doesn't take it over.

I don't know what they'll do with the Dayton Plant, but it's always been very ugly.

A Mill mall would do a lot toward luring retail to this part of the metro too. There's a lot of new shopping centers in Yukon, and there's the new Wal-Mart in Mustang, but as the area explodes we'll need a lot more retail options.
