So who can tell me who is responsible for letting things develop around 2-lane roads in Norman 60 years ago? I'd like to punch them in the face. I absolutely hate driving around in Norman because of all the neighborhood "main" roads being 2-laners and being in such poor condition. I know it would cost too much to buy up the property to expand the roads correctly now, but who should be shot for letting it get that way?

Probably William Boyd, OU's first president. OU growed rapidly when first established, so all of those skinny major roads in the old part of town, like University Avenue, Chataqua Avenue... Jenkins, Boyd, Lindsey (most definately) and Berry got swallowed without any forward thinking.

But then they let it continue, with parts further down Lindsey. It amazes me that Robinson was only just now widened, especially with all of those tax dollars that must be coming from those homes in that area.

I like Norman a lot though, and apart from that, it is a very well-planned city. And you have to love a city that actually has some really nice older, heavily-treed neighborhoods.

What really needs to be done LIKE NOW is widen I 35 to 6 lanes and build a freeway connector linking I 35 with the tech corridor (OK 9). Like so:

I also pointed in the direction of Norman areas that are having a lot of home building.

There are 2-lane roads in some parts of Tulsa... I hate them... Traffic always backed up but they are getting widened one road at a time...

"growed" huh? LOL....wanna try that one again...maybe "grew". I'm just messing with you. I do love the fact that the trees grow like they do. It's like driving down a tunnel of green! Now if they could just pick up the whole downtown area....turn it 45 degrees and put it in line with the grid everywhere else...HAHA!
