Here is a rough draft Tulsa Transit Vision Map I threw together real fast. We can use this and go from and develop a better map reflecting our descussion over time:

I also have this map reflecting my vision for a National High Speed Rail (HSR, in Pink) and Magnetic Levitation Train (Mag-Lev in Green) system, that I want to see built by 2030. As a HSR Line and a Mag-Lev Line would both go thre Tulsa, this might be a factor in our plans:

NOTE: Notice, all lower 48 States are reached by this system, as well as Canada's 5 largest cities!

Well currently Tulsa isn't connected by Amtrak, being the biggest city not served by Amtrak. They're trying to get on the Heartland Flyer.

INCOG has mass transit plans, involving a network of midtown and downtown lines that I think's great. A BA line is already being discussed however. So much... we'll have to see what happens first.

The street car and trolley system in Downtown Tulsa is a must...

I heard about Amtrak not connected to Tulsa... We have the lines and the stops if they need... The rail line from BA to Downtown Tulsa is what I see happening by 2015...

Nice map...

Wow, you've put a lot of effort into designing these rail systems. Good work. Now, what I think about the odds of them happening is a different story... haha.

A downtown/inner city modern streetcar loop is something I would love to see in both OKC and Tulsa.

One question I have about your plan- wouldn't there be too many stations in the Tulsa system for the system to be faster than roadways and viable?

Spartan65- 09-14-2006
The lines out to Bixby (past Skelly Drive), Owasso, Sand Springs, and Sapulpa should all be commuter rail and not light rail. The BA line should be light rail north of 31st. I don't know if the yellow rail loop is ever going to occur, but it is a neat idea. There probably shoud be some light rail lines in Southwest Tulsa, like along Southwest Boulevard perhaps. There's some fairly decent infill urban development in SW Tulsa, but you have to look past the run-down streets and abandoned factories.

Great map. Thanks for the effort.

I also agree, that light rail going all the way to Broken Arrow would be very wise. I hope this happens.

How fast to commuter-trains travel?

This would also help out traffic wise on BA expressway from 31st Sheridan to Downtown Tulsa--- It's a big pain... It also looks like its going to need some work coming up soon...

Here's a map I just made. The ones with white are specifically light rail lines, the red are commuter rail that only operate between 6 and 11 and 2 and 7. I also went ahead and added the western portion of the planned loop. I also gave the system a snazzy name, the TART.

RAGE- 09-14-2006
TART-- Tulsa Area Rapid Transit biggrin.gif Thats whats for Breakfest

Hey, I could ride the line from 81st and Highway 169 to TU Save me some gas...

Spartan65- 09-14-2006
There's a 71st line, it doesn't reach 169 though... in my plan. Warren's plan also doesn't have an 81st line. His line in that area starts at Memorial and runs along 71st till the Creek.

RAGE- 09-14-2006
So it Starts at Memorial-- Where would the Stop Be-- Woodland Hills?

I remember when I was in Seattle and they had the park and Ride and it was packed with people... There was nowhere for my mom to park the rental...

How much do expect the public to dish out over you all's transportation plans? I personally see how the only one that wouldn't be a huge waste of money would be a commuter link to BA. Maybe Owasso in the future, but they all work by the airport and not downtown.

I think the city would loose to much money over anything else.
