The Morton Health Center project is a 60,000 square-foot state-of-the-art medical center. The new $14 million health center and training facility is designed with a two-story steel frame structure with a brick and glass exterior. Brick features, inlays, and a curved atrium roof are introduced to be somewhat reminiscent of a West African Kente cloth. From the entry, the common patient waiting area is visible within a two-story atrium, which is divided into sections that are adjacent to each area of medical specialty. The facility includes a museum and conference center. The facility serves as a place to treat patients with or without health insurance. The new clinic expands and provides additional services in medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, lab, x-ray, optometry, podiatry, health careers, patient education, and WIC. The clinic provides after-hours care to all in need, reducing the current gridlock in emergency rooms.
