Jeff Moore, a Midwest City homebuilder, closed on the $10.9 million sale of the city block known as Bricktown Square Jan. 27. Moore was the high bidder on the property previously owned by The Mull Corporation when it hit the auction block November 15.
Tim Strange, CCIM of Sperry Van Ness, represented the McLain family for The Mull Corp. in the transaction and David Gilmore, CAI with Sperry Van Ness Accelerated Marketing, handled the auction services. Closing services were handled by Betty Cummins of First American Title & Trust Co.

The McLain's owned the property, which consists of seven buildings and 153 public parking spaces for more than four decades. Four of the buildings in the 189,423-square-foot retail site currently are under lease to restaurants including Daiquiri Zone, Abuelo's, Bricktown Brewery and soon-to-open Simply Fondue.

"My partners Steve Hudiburg and Kent Ledbetter and I are excited to be able to contribute to the Bricktown area and watch it develop," Moore said. "We all look forward to doing some things with it, and loft apartments would definitely be in the formula."

Hudiburg is a personal investor and Ledbetter, another investor in the project, is a long-time friend of Moore.

"By auctioning the property, we were able to ensure that the property sold at true market value," Strange said. "This auction presented investors the opportunity to acquire a high quality property in one of the most active regions in the Southwest."

The sale was expected to close by Jan. 4 but Moore said after a few delays, he was relieved to get the deal closed and he and his partners were looking forward to looking at what they could do in the next several months and throughout the next year.

"Now I'm taking a deep breath and going to Dallas to watch my daughter in a cheers national," Moore said. "We'll have dinner at Simply Fondue in Dallas and we'll be looking at some loft apartments in Ft. Worth and then look into the future."

This was a while back that he bought this. He has to know what he's going to do by now.

Maybe he's waiting for his profits from owning the land before he builds.

That doesn't make sense.
